Important - All NHS services are under extreme pressure, and it is necessary for the clinical team to prioritise patients based on the most urgent medical need.
All calls and online consultations are triaged by a clinician, the clinical team offer a same day response where medically necessary.
We aim to review all medical enquiries within two working days and provide an appointment within a timeframe that is determined based on medical need,
this could be same day, within two weeks, or for routine health matters a future date.
Please consider visiting your local pharmacy for minor ailments, a walk-in centre or a Minor Injury Unit for items that do not require A&E,
or call 111 for general advice and guidance about the best place to go for your medical needs. Thank you.

The Partners

Ms Michelle Freeburn – Managing Partner

Dip.PPM (Distinction), Dip. RSA, MIHM, MInstLM, MIGPM

Michelle Freeburn

I have worked within the field of management since 1997, commencing my career with Lloyds Pharmacy. I moved into General Practice in 2004, and was proud to secure a position at Bow in 2009. Having taken the decision to join the Partnership in 2010, I took up the helm as Senior Partner in April 2024. I really enjoy working within the healthcare community, providing support to patients, the practice team and our attached staff.

In addition to my partnership responsibilities, I am a board member of Mid Devon Healthcare Primary Care Network. Working alongside three local practices provides opportunity for neighbourhood working which I enjoy immensely.

Outside of work I enjoy musical theatre, reading a wide variety of literature and spending time with my family.

Dr Mark Eggleton – GP Partner

BM, MRCGP, DRCOG, Dip.DFFP

DrmarkeggletonI grew up in South Devon and studied for my medical degree in Southampton before moving to Dorset for my junior doctor and GP training, where  I met my wife. We returned to Devon so that I could take up a role as a GP partner in West Devon in 2001.

My particular areas of interest within general practice include the management of heart disease and diabetes, palliative care and menopause management.

Outside of work, and where time permits once all daily animal duties have been completed, I like to exercise when I can and enjoy going to the cinema, playing the piano, and attempting to surf.

The opportunity to take up a role at Bow Medical Practice has come at the perfect time for me and I am genuinely very excited to be joining the partnership. I hope I can help to continue the fantastic work that Dr Bower, Michelle and the wider team have been doing for many years.

SusanbiopicturecopyDr Susan Taheri

MB ChB (Hons), MRCGP, DRCOG, DFSRH, DTM&H

Dr Taheri qualified as a doctor in Manchester and has worked as an NHS GP in Devon since 2003. She has been at Bow since 2010 and now works as an Associate GP at the practice having stepped back from Partnership in 2022 to pursue other career interests.

She holds a Diploma in Lifestyle Medicine and is passionate about helping her patients make small but positive changes to benefit their health. She set up and helps to run “Growing Well Garden”,  a green social prescribing project based at the surgery which provides gardening as a therapeutic activity in a friendly and supportive setting. Away from work (and when not in the garden!) she enjoys keeping fit, walking and reading.

Dr Kevin Douglas

BM BCh, BA, MRCGP, MSc

I grew up in Dorset, did my medical degree in Oxford and  worked for 30 years in Exmouth as a GP partner. During this time I have also been a trainer, GP anaesthetist, appraiser and crowd and team doctor for the Exeter Chiefs.

I worked a few locums for Bow and thought the patients and staff were so friendly and welcoming it would be fabulous to join them. I enjoy all aspects of being a GP and have an interest in musculoskeletal medicine and joint injections. When grandad, domestic and animal duties permit I will hopefully be kitesurfing or on the moor.
